Public Records available from the County Engineer's Office
Digital Ortho Photography exposed in 2001on a single DVD covers the entire county. Each DVD cost $10.00. 2006 Digital Ortho Photography should be available late in 2006.

Also, sections maps are available ONLINE at the Belmont County G.I.S. web page. Sorted by Township, these individual section maps are compressed for faster downloads. Please be advised that these maps do not contain owner names and are for reference use only.
Scanned Aerial Mapping is available for the following years. 1938, 1950, 1979 and 1989. Index maps are available also.
Recorded Plats
Recorded plats are now available from the GIS website. The plats, located in the
recorders office, are scanned in our office at the time of the recording. See the

Tax Maps
Sheet size for tax maps for municipal areas is 34"x44" and at a scale of 1"=50' in most cases.
There are multiple sheets for each municipality.
Sheet size for tax maps for subdivided/platted areas is the same. Generally there is a separate sheet for each recorded subdivision.
Sheet size for other areas (section maps) is 30"x42" at a scale of 1"=200', except for quarter section enlargements at a 1"=100' scale.
Copies are available for $2 a sheet.

Survey Maps
Maps of surveys performed by registered surveyors and that have been used for deed transfer are on file by municipality and township and section.
Check these maps if you want to find survey information. Copies are $2 each.
Recorded Plats
We can make copies of the recorded plats on file in the Recorder's Office.
These plats show original dimensions of lots and streets, but not current property owners.
Our tax maps correspond to these plats and show current property owners, but
are not official sources for lot dimensions. Copies are $2 each.
Plat Books are no longer available
As a cost saving measure, plat books are not being created at this time by the
Engineer's Department.
Please contact the Belmont Soil & Water Conservation District at 740.425.1100 Ext. 3 to purchase a Belmont Count Plat Book.
These books are prepared by Mercury Publishing, and show parcels generally of ten acres or more.
There is a spread for each township in the county, showing owners.
Municipal street maps are provided, but do not show municipal ownership.

County Road Map
This 24"x36" map shows townships, all state, county and most township roads, and major streams.
On the back are street maps for each municipality. The map is prepared by National Survey.

We have a set of 7-1/2 minute maps for the county, and can make a black & white copy.
Quadrangle maps for Belmont and surrounding counties can be obtained from dealers,
(such as Draft-Co, Inc. in Martins Ferry, Ohio - $5 each for stock/local, $7 each for order).
